“DVARO KAVOS” IS A TRADEMARK OF THE “UŽUPIŲ MANUFAKTŪRA” COMPANY
Since 2019 we started milling and roasting roots and acorns, and during those years managed to bring Lithuanian cultural heritage to the shelves of the biggest local supermarkets.
Acorn, dandelion, chicory, carrot and barley coffees, and herbal infusions have always been a big part of our traditional gastronomy, and are now regaining popularity as an alternative to a speedy caffeine-run culture.
Our quality recipes combine traditional herbalism and a modern approach to body & mind health, together with the demands of great taste.
The founder Victoria, with a degree in medieval history, is on a quest to rediscover long-forgotten, gourmet caffeine-free coffee & tea as well as create new blends.
Temperatures of roasting, time of harvest, and mixing of complementing ingredients are artfully practiced to optimise flavour and beneficial effect.
OUR MISSION
- Preserving our culinary heritage – we’re working on a certificate to prove it. All our coffees are prepared according to historical recipes and consumption traditions. The tradition of drinking caffia (local alternative to coffee) has been included in the list of intangible cultural heritage in 2024.
- Locality and quality of raw materials – we are proud of our local suppliers in the Baltic region and Ukraine, who collect wild plants or farm according to organic and good practice standards. The raw materials are processed in our workshop in Sligo under strictly controlled conditions. Herbs are used whole or minimally chopped where packaging characteristics allow.
- Sustainability in all processes – from shortest possible supply chains to maximum recyclable packaging. Products are only packed when needed, ensuring freshness and optimal use of retail space.
TEA&COFFEE TASTING
We invite you to find peace under our old linden trees. The smell of freshly roasted and brewed coffee will introduce you to the delicious Lithuanian traditions. Families, co-workers, tourist groups and foreign guests – all are welcome, we just ask you to make an appointment in advance.
We will show you the whole process of our production, from harvesting to brewing. Dig a root, pick a flower and feel the connection between the living plant and the product.
We’ll explore flavours, the ins and outs of brewing, the effects of milk and sweeteners, and much more. Finding authentic traditional herbal recipes that are in line with modern scientific data and principles is an amazing discovery.
Over a cup of delicious drink, we’ll share what we enjoy – the gourmet secrets of yesteryear and the exciting history of this region, perhaps even showing you examples of the local volcanic rock left behind by a giant meteorite.
Our estate is part of “A Guided Tour: A Ring of Manor Houses in Ukmergė District“.
Contact us. We kindly ask you to wait for our confirmation – an invitation will be sent after discussing and setting the date and time.
